Extruder for core subsampling
- sediment coring
- sediment core subsampling
The extruder comprises the core tube, the tripod with collapsible feet for secure holding the core tube in a vertical position, the ram with special driving system for precise pushing the core inside the tube and the tray to collect the core sample drawn over the upper end of the tube.
The sediment coring is performed with the extruder core tube and the extra ram with necessary accessories. After coring the extra ram is replaced with the tray.
Core subsampling may begin as soon as the extruder with the core is secured on the tripod. The special driving system of the extruder guarantees the precise extruding of the core. The extruding length is chosen according to the analyses method and the sample quality.
After every full turn of the crank handle of the driving system the ram becomes automatically fixed and the core layer sample of as little as 10 mm height discretion is pushed out of the tube and drawn off the tray. Turning the crank handle not in full turns but in parts of it enables to decrease the core sample height, e.g. every 36º crank handle movement corresponds to the extruding of the core in 1 mm.
The design makes the extruder ideal for the applications in the field environments in spite of the season.
